Common Questions

How Banglatype calculate results?

We use a Standardized International Keystroke System to ensure accuracy and fairness across all languages and keyboard layouts (Avro, Bijoy, etc.). Here is exactly how it works:

  • 1
Standard Character CountingWe count results based on Unicode Characters. This is the global standard used by modern typing platforms like Monkeytype.
    • Simple Letters: 'ক' = 1 Key
    • Complex Vowels: 'ো' (O-Kar) = 1 Key. (Since modern keyboards type it as one character)
    • Conjuncts (Juktoborno): Counted as the sum of their parts. Example: 'ক্ষ' counts as 3 Keys(ক+্+ষ).
    • Consonants: Counted as the sum of their parts. Example: 'ক্ক' counts as 2 Keys.
    • Words: Counted as the sum of their parts. Example: 'হ্র ' counts as 3 Keys(হ+্+র).
  • 2
    WPM Formula
    (Correct Characters / 5) / Time (min)

We treat "5 characters" as one standardized "word", regardless of how long the actual words are. This prevents high WPM scores just from typing many short words.

  • 3
    Accuracy & Fairness
    (Correct Keys / Total Keys) * 100%

Our system is "Keyboard Agnostic". Whether you use Phonetic (Avro) or Fixed Layout (Bijoy), you get the exact same score for the same text. No advantage for using "shortcuts".

Is this platform really free?

Yes. We believe access to language education is a right. All features are free.

Can I learn if I've never typed Bangla before?

Absolutely. Start with Level 1 lessons. We guide you key-by-key.

Which keyboard layout is better?

Avro is easier for beginners (phonetic). Bijoy is the standard for professional jobs in Bangladesh.
